Team Management & Design Ops

I was a Design Team Leader at Glints for one and a half years: my team involved 8 talented members who came from greater Southeast Asia. The key responsibilities as a design manager were team management, design ops and also supported as a project leader for cross-team products and help to enhance key product performance. The cross platform products my team responsible for were: talent App, talent web, employer website and content management system. Led creating and maintaining design system that improved 30% work efficiency and accelerate storybook revamping.

8 direct reports:

  • 3 senior, 3 middle-level and 1 junior product designers

  • 1 senior UX writer

  • Team members come from 5 countries

Team Management

Keep good E-NPS (employee NPS) feedback for twice in row by:

  • Team building and hiring the level A players

  • Quarterly team OKR setting and review

  • Quarterly team retro (ORID framework in Fig. 1 and UX maturity in Fig. 2)

  • Team meeting cadence setting: monthly all hands, weekly work status update

  • Team mission statement creating

  • UX maturity enhancement plan

  • Team bonding activities

People Management

  • Individual development plan for 8 team members (7 product designer and one UX writer)

Design System

Improving 30% work efficiency and reduce communication efforts across product platforms and functions by:

  • Led the design system website building (Fig. 5) and library documentation

  • Organised project planning, cross-team collaboration and resource arrangement (partnered with Creative Team and Share Service Team)

  • Retitled atomic structure to help designers and developers understand easier (from chemistry terms to plain words)

  • Led the semantic color and design token building

  • Unified all 2C and 2B product feedbacks into one checklist that cover feedback from UT, CS, CSAT, App review

  • Led weekly CSAT tracking with Research Team (Fig. 6)

  • Organized product feedback improvement meeting with 5 functions (CS Team, Product managers, Design Team, Share Service Team, Content Team)
